About Dr. Smeltz

Dr. David N. Smeltz was born in Lynchburg, Virginia during World War II. His parents were hard working people trying to make a life after the war. As a child, he lived in Allentown, Pennsylvania and at the age of seven, his family moved to Hialeah, Florida. He attended elementary, junior high and high school while residing in Florida. At age seventeen, he entered the Army and spent a little over one tour in Vietnam. After returning home from Vietnam in 1966, he went to work as a plumber and attended Junior College. In the fall of 1970, he met a young woman by the name of Susan Odell who invited him to church. While attending a revival in October 1970 he received Christ as his Savior and Lord. In February of 1971, he married Ms. Odell and they have been married for forty-six years. In 1973, he and his wife surrendered to the Gospel Ministry.
He, his wife, and three children moved to Lynchburg, Virginia to attend Liberty Baptist College in 1974. After graduating from college in 1978, he and his family started Open Door Baptist Church in Halifax, Virginia. The church grew under his leadership to over 100 people with a Christian School and Day Care. In 1981, he assumed the pastorate of Fellowship Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana. While there, he started a Christian School, Day Care, and Bible Institute and Citizens against Pornography.
He assumed the leadership of Moral Majority for the state of Indiana in 1982 and worked with the Republican Party to elect Ronald Regan. He began working on his master’s degree at New World Bible Institute. In 1985, he received his doctorate from Anchor Theological Seminary. He also attended J. Adams school of Christian Counseling and received his diploma in 1984. His pastorates have led him to New York, Washington State, Virginia and short time in Florida.

He has pastored for 28 years served as a missionary evangelist for 20 years at two different times. He has written thirty-one books and many pamphlets. His ministry has led him to over 1000 churches in fifty years of ministry preaching in many countries around the world. They have five children, twelve grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

In 2017 Dr. Smeltz and his wife moved to Florida and that is where they now reside. They travel in a motor home working with Amazing Grace Missions in fairs sharing the gospel of Christ. They also work in five major countries, training national pastors. He volunteers at the Local DAV (Disabled America Veterans) helping veterans get their benefits. Several years ago, he launched into radio ministry. He hosts ONE Voice-Voice of Victory Podcast on Sunday evenings at 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday Evening at 8:00 P.M.
